I think I have been very lucky to travel to America four times, as I love the country. Here are some photos that I, and other people, took while I was there. I'm not very good at knowing exactly when to take photos, and if you couple that with the fact that I have a bad memory (especially when I'm having fun), you'll understand why I don't take many photos.
I have been to a few American cities, but my favorite of them all is by far, Beverly Hills. That's because it's just like you see on TV; sunshine & palm trees. 8-[)
Purpose of this trip: This was the first time I had been to America, so I just wanted to see if it was everything I thought it was. I met a girl on the internet in 1997, so I wanted to meet her in person. Seeing as it was my first time, I decided to take a friend with me. BIG MISTAKE!!! My "friend" had met someone on-line also, so we were going to meet her as well. I'll make a long story short by saying that the girl I met liked my "friend" better helped along by him telling her untrue stories about me, and she believing them.
So I ended up cutting this vacation short and leaving a week before I was scheduled to leave. I met two great people on this trip though; Hollie and Mike. Mike was a guy who I met at Evansville airport who worked for US Air, and Hollie was a woman who I met at Chicago airport who worked for Untied Airlines. These two people made the trip totally worth it, even though it wrecked two friendships of mine. Thanks Mike and Hollie. I have lost contact with Hollie now, so if you're reading this Hollie, please e-mail me.
I was a little bit sunburnt by the time these photos were taken.
Length of trip: 3 weeks.
Cities visited: Chicago IL, Evansville IN, Indinapolis IN, Hartford CT.
Mike showed me around Evansville a little, and it turned out that he was friends with a lot of Hooters restaurants, and seeing as how there is one in Evansville, he took me there. A couple of times. 8-[)
Purpose of this trip: After a disastrous trip in 1998, I met another woman, Carlie, on ICQ, who was at her mom's (Garnet) house, towards the end of 1998. I wanted go and meet them to get the bad taste of 1998 out of my mouth. This trip was also the first time I spent a month in Chicago, so while I was in Chicago, I traveled to Memphis TN to meet one of my best friends' penpal.
Length of trip: 3 months.
Cities visited: Redding CA, Las Vegas NV, Chicago IL, Memphis TN, Orlando FL, New York NY and Beverly Hills CA.
I was plenty nervous when I first met Garnet, because I kept thinking back to 1998, and thinking, "What if they don't like me???". But all that disappeared as soon as I saw them waiting for me at the airport. They took me into their home, made me feel welcome, and treated like a member of the family. For that, I'm eternally grateful. Garnet has 3 daughters: Carlie, Layne and Taryn.
Purpose of this trip: To visit as many cities as I could in the 5 months that I was there. Also, I wanted to go to as many theme parks as possible, and ended up going to quite a few. I love roller coasters!!!
Length of trip: 5 months.
Cities visited: Redding CA, Las Vegas NV, Dallas TX, New Orleans LA, Minneapolis MN, Detroit MI, Chicago IL, Orlando FL, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, Boston MA and Hollywood CA.
Since 1999, the first stop in my American vacations is always Redding CA. I only have the one photo from Redding on this trip. Blake is Carlie's son.
Chicago is a great city, so when I'm in America, I stay for a month in Chicago. On this trip I caught up with 2 friends who I met in 1999, and they were great to me. Thanks, Obbie and Andrea. I also met Crystal on this trip.
Purpose of this trip: There wasn't really any purpose to this trip, other than to visit friends and have a vacation, which is why I only visited a few cities. I took a lot more photos on this trip. 8-[)
Length of trip: 2½ months.
Cities visited: Redding CA, Phoenix AZ, Chicago IL and Hollywood CA.
It was pure joy to see Garnet and her family again.
While I was staying with Garnet, she decided to take me a place called Burney Falls. She also took one of her friends, Linda, with us.
While I was in Redding, I flew to Phoenix for a couple of days to see Dan (Layne's ex husband) and Layne, and it turned out (I had no idea) that Dan's father is a colonel in the US Air Force. Dan's parents' names are Jeff and Jane.
While I was in Phoenix, Jeff took me to the Air Force base and showed me around. It was like taking a kid to a candy store, because ever since I was a kid I always wanted to be a fighter pilot. It was pretty awesome to be shown around by a full Colonel, and have every one saluting him as they walked past because they had to. It made me feel important. 8-[) Unfortunately, we went on a weekend, so there were no planes taking off or landing, but it was still great!!! Thanks, Jeff
Crystal is the woman who I met on my 2003 America trip, and it was a true honor to see her again. Obbie is a very good friend who I met in 1999. They both worked at Johnny Rockets in 2003 but have since moved on to bigger and better things.
If you have never stayed at a hotel in Chicago called, The Talbott Hotel, then I suggest you do it, and soon. Next time you're in Chicago that is. 8-[) I stayed there for a month, and the people who work there are so friendly and willing to go out of their way to help you. These are just 2 of the most beautiful people you could ever meet, Annett and Stacy. There were a lot of people who work at the hotel who I would have liked to get a photo of, but I never got around to it. I was having too much fun.
Ever since 1999, I have finished my America vacations in Hollywood/Beverly Hills. Here are two photos that I took whilst walking down Hollywood Boulevard
the first one is Britney Spears' star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Back when I took this photo, Britrney Spears was in my Top 5 Women, so I was so pleased when I was looking at the stars on the Walk of Fame and saw hers.
The other one is Steven Seagal's hand and footprint at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The only reason why I took this photo was because Lorraine loves him, so this is for you, Lorraine.
